Kimiko, My Angel

On Monday night my beloved cat Kimiko fell off the roof, and had to be put down. It was a horrific experience, seeing her like she was, blood everywhere, just wanting to go upstairs to hide in someone's bedroom, but I had to hold her until we could put her in a cat carrier and take her to a vet.

I've been trying to distract myself since, if I don't I start crying, and I've been wondering why I seem to be taking it worse than the others, and the only explanation I can come up with is that I knew her longer, spent more time with her than anyone else in my family. We got Kimi from a cousin I used to babysit in the school holidays, so I got to see her a lot while she was still a kitten. After we got her, it took a couple years before she really fully started to be friendly with us, and throughout this year she'd spend hours in my room, curled up on my bed or floor.

I will miss her greatly, not cat will be able to replace her, but I hope our next pet, cat or not, will be just as big a part of our family as Kimiko was.
